In a landmark move to support Nigerian students, the MTN Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its 2024 scholarship program. This initiative, which is part of the Foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), aims to alleviate the financial burden on outstanding students across the nation.
The 2024 edition of the scholarship has been notably enhanced, increasing the annual award from N200,000 to a generous N300,000. This increment reflects MTN’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting the educational journey of Nigerian youths.
Expanded Opportunities for Diverse Students
The scholarship program is divided into three specialized categories, each targeting a different group of students to ensure a wide-reaching impact:
- MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS): This category is tailored for 300-level students enrolled in science and technology-related courses at Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions.
- MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS): Demonstrating inclusivity, this scholarship is available to 200 and 300-level blind students pursuing any course in Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions.
- Top 10 UTME Scholarship: Rewarding academic merit, this scholarship is awarded to the top 10 scoring candidates in the UTME, as announced by JAMB, covering their education from the 100 level through to graduation, subject to maintaining the required grades.
A Step Forward in Inclusivity
In 2024, the MTN Foundation has taken significant strides to promote inclusivity by expanding the number of scholarships available to blind students from 60 to 100. This expansion ensures that more students have access to the resources they need to excel academically.
Odunayo Sanya, the Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, emphasized the importance of education for national progress and the Foundation’s unwavering dedication to empowering every Nigerian student to achieve academic excellence.
