Step By Step Guide On How To Register For WAEC (PRIVATE)

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates is offered twice a year by the West African Examination Council (WAEC). First and Second Series of the WASSCE for Private Candidates (January/February and August/September).

Additionally, applicants are advised that the 2023 WAEC GCE registration process has been created to take into account the biometric features that will be used for test center certification.

Registration for WAEC Private Examination

Thirty Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N30,500.00) is the only fee per candidate for walk-in registration. A minimum of twenty-four hours before the time of the paper(s) you plan to take, you must register.

Candidates are expected to pay a registration fee of Eighteen Thousand Naira (N18,000) only, at branches of any of the following banks or any accredited agent and obtain the Registration PIN and Information VCD:

  • Candidates would be asked to give the banks and approved agents an extra commission of 500 Naira (N500.00). The registration token may also be purchased using a credit or debit card by using any of the following cashless payment channels listed in the new advertisement.

Candidates must register online at https://registration.waecdirect.org after receiving their Registration PIN.

For the Registration activity, each Candidate must have a National Identification Number.

Like other candidates, candidates with special needs will register online, but they must clearly disclose any impairments they may have, such as visual, hearing, speech, or low vision.

Completion Of Registration

To verify that the information on their passports, including their names, gender, dates of birth, and subjects, is accurate. Additionally, applicants must print the Admission Notice, which will act as identification during the exam and serves as proof of successful enrollment. The Admission Notice will also include the Result Checker PIN. 

Before submitting their registration for the test, candidates should watch the information VCD.

It is also important to note that the registration cost is not refundable for candidates.

For the exam, candidates should keep checking the website. 

Passport photos taken with a digital camera must be provided with entries. Microsoft HD 3000 should be the digital camera’s specs. The passport photos must have a CONTRASTING BACKGROUND and be of GOOD QUALITY in BLACK & WHITE OR COLOR (JPEG File only, 275 by 314 pixels with 72 dbi resolution). 

Candidates are advised to review the exam’s rules and syllabuses, which they can download from the WAEC website (www.waeconline.org.ng) by entering their registration PIN.

Candidates who take the exam at more than one location will have their complete result nullified.Smoking is not permitted in the exam room.

Any candidate who enters the examination room with a mobile phone or other electronic device will have their whole results thrown out.

Before uploading, candidates must double-check that all of the information on their entries is accurate because the Council will not be held liable for any mistakes in the candidates’ personal information. Any requests for changes to the information a candidate freely provides at the time of registration will not be permitted.

Candidates must bring their original Admission Notice with them into the examination room.
