How to become exceptionally persuasive as a teacher
We are gradually moving from the dispensation where teachers impose their knowledge on the students; these are the days where persuasiveness is extremely needed in education. The following are tactics you can employ to be persuasive in your teaching approach:
- Have a clear and understandable message: Nobody likes ambiguity; and since you are teaching young and simple minds, they need to understand what you are saying as clearly as possible. Teaching is not that vocation where you impress with big words. You need to have a clear message that can easily be understood by the students.
- Ask a lot of questions in class: What better way to determine whether your students believe what you are teaching than to ask questions. Also, do not make the student feel like they will be punished if they give the wrong answer. Instead, ask them questions that will make you understand their opinions about the subject.
- Have situations where your students teach while you listen: Move away from the conventional system that have teachers teach students all the time. Ask them to read a topic ahead of class and during class, call out a student who will teach that subject while you sit down and listen. This will enable the students to remember that subject taught because they learnt it under fun circumstances.
When you practice these tactics, you will definitely be the best teacher in the world.
